Pumpkin was founded in 2020 in response to the pet adoption boom as a result of COVID. Company founders (veterinary vaccine and drug producer Zoetis) stated they created Pumpkin to help ensure pets adopted during the pandemic would have access to the healthcare they need by providing coverage options to new pet parents. In addition to that, Pumpkin filled a gap in the industry by providing options for preventative care coverage.
Pumpkin offers two coverage options: Accident & Illness insurance, and optional Preventive Care coverage. Plan pricing is different for dogs and cats and is also affected by your pet’s age, breed, and your location (which is standard among all pet insurance plans).
Pumpkin Pet Health Insurance is operated by Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group (C&F Pet). C&F Pet is a licensed agency with a history dating back to 1997 and is one of the largest pet insurance providers in the US, providing pet insurance plans for many of our reviewed companies.
